Page 200 - What’s A Business For

I recently read a Harvard Business Review article by Charles Handy, the article was titled “what’s a business for”. In the article Charles talks about capitalism, and how it will continue to been seen as a rich man’s game, and here are my thoughts I want to start off by saying that I believe, it’s naïve to think that any system is completely perfect or imperfect. Yes you have bad capitalists, but you can also have good capitalists. That is why when living in a capitalistic environment integrity, and virtue become vital to the economy. This is because when a capitalist that doesn’t care about the environment, it then gives birth to a virtuous capitalist that does care about the environment, or when a capitalist doesn’t care about the country he lives in, it gives birth to a capitalist that has a lot of inetgrity and does care about his country, and the chain goes on, and on like that in almost every industry, or field.  Charles Handy goes on to imply that the objective of every busi...

Chapter 4 - Financial Literacy

Everything in this world comes down to value.  Not how much something is worth, but rather how much value something can bring, or even give you. I view money as one of the things that can either bring you a lot of, or take away a lot of value from your life. What does this mean? Well to me, I view money as a tool. I see it as vehicle that can be used to further your goals, and progress you up the financial ladder. To me, I believe that having the right attitude to money is an essential part of growth. The minute you start seeing money as a tool that can be used, to not only better your life but also the lives of those around you, opportunities start to open up. Just like a soldier who puts his life on the line, as an entrepreneur you put your salary on the line. You choose to use your money as a tool, and a way to bring value to the market place in the form of a product or service. With that being said. I feel like a person’s internal view of money, is a direct reflection of how th...

Page 110 - Challenging Your Beliefs and Achieving Your Dreams

What is one of the things that is drilled into us from a very young age? Well, that's easy! Don't swear... As most people are aware, from a very young age most of us are taught to not use profanity, but unfortunately most of us are not taught how to not use “bad language”.  The type of bad language I am talking about are things like this: I can’t do this, you cannot achieve that, you will never be like this person because you are lazy, if you don’t pull up your socks you will never accomplish anything in life, I will never be as good as this guy, and unfortunately this is a list that goes on and on forever. This type of bad language acts as the catalyst that fuels our limiting belief structure. If you allow yourself to use this type of bad language in your day to day conversations, you will at some point open yourself up and allow other people to impose their limiting beliefs onto you as well. That is why it is very important to be aware of the type of language you are using, b...

Page 100 - The Page About Questions

This week I want to talk to you about the power of asking questions. Asking questions must be one of the most important tools any successful entrepreneur has in their arsenal. Simply put, asking the right questions can increase your likely hood of success, and help you connect better with the world around you. The main reason why people feel uncomfortable about asking questions is because they think that there are right and wrong questions, however, this is not the case. Asking questions helps to keep you engaged with the people around you, and it also opens a bridge to being taught something new. A few years ago there was a study published by Harvard Business Review and Mu Sigma (https://hbr.org/2015/03/relearning-the-art-of-asking-questions), which found that out of 200 people with children, 70% - 80% of their children’s dialog consisted of questions, and out of those same 200 people 15% - 20% of their own interactions consisted of questions.  Now, why is this important? We...

Page 95: Learn to Process Issues

In the game of life and entrepreneurship, you are constantly presented with “What if…?” situations. These types of situations can either make or break you as an entrepreneur. In my life I have experienced a multitude of these questions, and I feel like the trick to answering them is to not get intimidated by the question. A lot of the time when we are dealing with certain situations in life, our brains automatically try to reason the situation out, as being either best case or worst case scenarios. This is just human nature, and it is one of the many challenges you will face as an entrepreneur. To truly become a great entrepreneur, you need to become great at processing issues. Whenever something goes wrong, it’s almost always because of a calculation, or processing error. But, this isn’t a bad thing. When something goes wrong it allows us to take a step back, and try come up with reasons to why that specific thing went wrong. By following this process of trial and error, it teaches us...
