Page 85: A Habit For Success
A few years ago I read the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey, and recently I read a summary of the book.
That brought me to today's topic.
Let us first look at what a habit is. A habit - which can be a good, or a bad thing depending on which way you look at it - is defined as "a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously."
The book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" does a great job at outlining, and defining the habits that allow people to experience both private and public victories. I personally believe that by mastering these habits, and experiencing these types of victories it will allow us to make personal paradigm shifts - our paradigm is responsible for the way we interpret our reality.
The habits listed in the book are as follows:
- Habit 1: Be proactive
- Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind
- Habit 3: Put first things first
- Habit 4: Think win-win
- Habit 5: Seek first to understand . . . Then to be understood
- Habit 6: Synergize
- Habit 7: Sharpen the saw
Private victories, allow us to pay the price of success with ourselves before we pay the price of success with the public. In my personal opinion paying the price of success with ourselves first, helps us form a habit of constantly casting our vision of where we going next. Being able to constantly cast your vision builds confidence, motivation, and ignites your passion. These 3 things - confidence, motivation, and passion- are all driving factors for exponential growth within our lives.
The book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" is a great book, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to experience a win.
