Chapter 3: Do You Want To Be An Entrepreneur??

Throughout the ages many people have asked themselves questions about entrepreneurship?

Questions like: Is it something I am born with, or is it something that I choose? How will my family's life be affected if I pursue this path? How do you manage fear, and rejection? And what motivates me to do what I am doing?

These along with some other questions, could be used to validate whether or not, you were made to be entrepreneur. I regard asking questions as the starting point to finding out what your calling and passion is in life.

From personal experience, I found that the problem with entrepreneurship is that most people don't start by asking themselves questions. When most people think about transitioning from a career to being an entrepreneur, they immediately think about the Musk's, and the Bezos's of the world. They forget to ask themselves important questions about what those individuals did, and what they went through to get to where they are today. In short there was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears behind the scenes. Unfortunately this isn't always the first thing that people look at, they usually look at the end product. They look at where the person is today, without considering how they got there.

Now, I'm not saying that it's a bad thing to envision yourself in a high position. Einstein once said that the imagination is the preview to life's coming attractions. What I am saying, is that when your core beliefs are not reality based, and they are based on wishful thinking it can be damaging. This type of wishful thinking compromise's your minds immune system. An example of this is when you cling to your beliefs so hard that when evidence comes along to change your thinking, you are less like to change your mind based on the evidence. This is partly because people see what they want to see.

Recently I asked myself the question: "is being an entrepreneur something I am born with, or is it something that I choose?" To me the answer to that question is this: Although anyone can be an entrepreneur, entrepreneurship isn't something you choose, it is something that chooses you. Money is the blood the fuels the economy, and it is something you cant live without. I am so passionate about doing business, and building companies, that it is something that I would do regardless of whether or not money was involved. It is a feeling that will stick with me until my last days.

I truly believe that asking questions is the most important skill for entrepreneur to have. It is a skill that can separate successful entrepreneurs, from the ones that give up.

An entrepreneur should be able to test their ideas with questions, and come up with solutions based on the answers.
